Clam Chowder!

February 25th, I will have a team competing in the Clam Chowder Cook-Off at the Boardwalk in Santa Cruz. I have an unfair advantage, because god is on my side and not theirs. So we can't lose, right, isn't that how it works?!

The theme for my Clam Chowder team is losely based on the Frankenstein monster. The name is FRANKENCHOWER. The booth will have a banner, and if I can find cheap laboratory equiptment, like tubes and jars, I'll place some at the front. I plan to be dressed as a mad scientist, doctor, along with my sister Monya, and my other sister Adele, the more social of the bunch, will be in a mutated clam creature costume, a creation to behold for sure! I'll post pictures of everything as it all comes together. I have a logo idea that will look great, but just have not had the time yet to sit down and draw it. The costumes are in shipment or being painted and assembled. I need to find some edible eyeballs too!

Below is the first mock up of our booth banner. I couldn't convince my coworkers to pose in a bikini an scream so I stole the lady off the Phirana 2 movie poster.

Godzilla strikes!

In the December 2011 entry I demonstrated how to turn a Godzilla toy into a holiday like decoration. Little did I know after posting the step-by-step in a Godzilla forum, that my site would exceed it's monthly allowed bandwith and a default error message would appear to users that tried to visit my site. So, with my oversite, Godzilla took down my site, for just a couple weeks! He's not called the King of the Monsters for nothing.

What I learned here is to post picture of some significant to one of those free picture hosting sites, and then they will absorb the traffic, not my budget account. What I also learned is that I need to customize the default error page so it better explains to the user what is going on and has my personal touch. I guess I have the rest of my life to get around to it.

Brothers Andoid Apps site!

My brother John just began programming apps for the Android phone. He needed a website and brand, so I offered to help. If you want to see his site in it's infancy, check out the link.

Car Restoration!

I've been driving the same car for the last 10 years. Last October on the way to bingo (Yeh, I know - bingo? Long story..) I was rearended in the city by a huge truck, and upon asking the driver he said he just didn't see me! This actually gave me the thought and opportunity to freshen up my ride. The car runs fine, so I'm expecting to be driving it for years to come. With this expectation, I opened up another claim for minor damage that my car encured on the front bumper years back. With the two claims, front and back, I paid the difference to have the entire car stripped, dents removed and repainted. The cost was much less than had I paid for the entire job without the insurance money. Well obvisoulsy, yeh? So with my insurace paying $4k, I picked up the rest and my yellow roadster now looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor!

Having driven the same car for 10 years, it has become more of a restoration job than just simple maitenance. So next up, after the good ol' tax return, I get the carpet steam cleaned or replaced and re appolster the seats with new leather!
